Relit Scenes, Melee Progress, HUD Improvements | 0.3 Progress Update


Hey Shadows fans,

I am feeling significantly better, and have made enough progress to release a 0.3 separate from the Halloween update.

We've got some really exciting stuff coming in P0.3, we are hoping for today but it could be in the next couple. 

First of all, I have relit all of our levels to better capture the atmosphere we seek, for example, here is level 4, the courtyard, also used for Endless Courtyard. This scene can be viewed in the video. I originally had screenshots but turns out Itch embeds them as base64 directly which runs up the character limit. I've massively improved third person, and melee, as we move towards the 0.3 release, which is shown in the video.

We've also come up with a new HUD replacing our old corner display of ammo and knives

As well, a large number of bugs, general hinderances, and AI issues have been resolved going towards the release of 0.3.

Today, I am adding some quality of life and UX stuff, like shortcuts to swap to the last weapon or the last melee weapon easily, preventing the AI from tracking the player through walls, and potentially bringing in an experimental hover mechanic. Then, I'll be doing the first pass of a new tutorial, and ideally, packing up 0.3.
